*Ding* Lunch time! I open up the oven and take out the pizza that has been cooking for the past little while. I cut it up into slices and take one slice into my grandmother. After giving it to her I walk back into the living room. A little while later I trek back into her room to find her with her pizza and a spoon. She was only eating the top of the pizza, and by eating the top I mean spooning the top off and eating it. I asked her what she was doing.
"I don't know."
Sometimes the crust isn't that good, but I still don't think anyone should eat it with a spoon.
Wini's Blog
This blog is a tribute to my lovely grandmother, Winifred Cook. These will be sayings that she has said that I thought was funny so I decided to share it :)

Applesauce
I am in the family room on the computer as I hear the news in my grandmother's room talk about Jimmer Fredette and how President Obama praised him. I hurry into her room so I can see as much as I can. After that news portion is over, I look to see what my grandmother is doing. She has an applesauce cup in one hand, and a spoon in the other. She was doing the motion of feeding herself.
What is the problem with this picture?
There isn't applesauce in the cup, there is a napkin that she has placed in it. She kept on trying to scoop up the napkin so that she could eat it.
"Grandma, what are you doing?"
"Eating."
"There is a napkin in there!"
"Well he never said I couldn't."
"Okay grandma."
I decided to get a new cup for her to eat. After, I tried to give her a pill that she takes. I picked up the water cup that was right by her to give to her to drink. There was more than just water in there. A napkin was sitting in the bottom of the cup waiting for her to partake of in the near future.
Her secret ingredient for her meals has finally been discovered! Napkins.

The Buttons
My father shared this experience with me.
One night, when my grandmother's final pills went off, my dad took the pills into her room. Almost every time someone goes into her room to give her the last pills, she is usually asleep in bed. But this time as my father walked in, she wasn't in bed. Where could she possibly be? He looked in the bathroom because that light is usually on when she goes to bed to see if she was in there. No she wasn't there. The T.V. was turned on so he decided to check in there. He finds her standing up, with her legs spread apart, with her hand on the wall. He wanted to see what she was doing and as he sat there for a bit watching her, it looked as if she was touching the wall in many places. So he decided to ask what she was doing.
"I'm pushing these buttons."
"What buttons" says my father.
"The ones right there!"
"Okay Wini, lets take your pills so you can go to sleep."
After he said that, my grandmother started speed walking, almost running, around the room. This didn't just happen once, but she continually speed walked around the room for many laps.
She must have had too much sugar that day and needed to burn all of it off so she could sleep!

UCLA
It was a fine day. I was sitting in the recliner doin' my own thing when my grandma walks quickly up to me. "Grandma, what do you need?"
"I need a paper."
"For what?" I reply.
"To fill out an application for the department at UCLA."
Looks like everybody needs to go to college! Even the elderly!

Doin' Dishes!
*rrrr* *rrrr* time for grandma's pills! I walk into her room to find her standing by a stand and I ask her what she is doing because she is holding almost a full box of tissues in one hand, without the box. She looks at me for a minute, then says "just doin' the dishes!"
It makes sense since she would need so many tissues to try those dishes she has in her room!

I'm Thirsty
I was playing the piano one afternoon after eating lunch. In the room where the piano is, there are two doors that have glass that is faded so you can't see clearly through the doors. I see a shadow move across the doors. Knowing it must be my grandma I opened the doors. I find her standing up holding in one hand a straw, and the other, a birthday card since her birthday was last week. I asked her what she was doing with the straw.
"I'm thirsty."
I look on her table to find water sitting there. I also see she hasn't eaten all of her sandwich so I tell her to eat. She is standing by the head of her recliner with the two items I described earlier. She was trying to put the straw through the card.
"Grandma, what are you doing?"
"I'm thirsty."
"You have water right there."
She goes on to try and put the straw through a tissue. So I gave up.
She must be thirsty for anything!

Our Pool!
It was getting later in the day one afternoon when I decided to trek into my grandmother's room. I saw her standing over her chest of drawers and asked her what she was doing.
"Well, I'm sending in the money."
"For what grandma?"
"The pool. Do you have yours covered?"
(Going along with it) "Yes I do."
"What about the river?"
"Oh no, I don't have the river covered."
"Well, I need as much clouds as I can get!"
I'm hoping that my grandmother is implying that she is buying us a pool!
